In Math we have been exploring Sorting by colour shape and size. Sorting activities provide students opportunity to describe objects, identify their attributes, see relationships between them and organize them into categories (or sets). Initially students sort objects according to obvious attributes (colour) and may not recognize other, less obvious attributes. They sort objects into "are" or "are not" groups, for example: "All of these objects are green. All of these objects are not green." With experience, some of the children began to sort objects using less obvious attributes such as shape or size.
